Mini Rear Deck Installation Instructions |
After you have removed the Tool Bag, the Mini Rear Deck mounts to the structural supports on the rear fender assembly. |
Under the fender there is a metal plate formed to protect the wiring going to the turn signals and the tail light assembly. This is used again with the Mini Rear Deck just as it was with the original fender mounted tool bag. |
This is how the Mini Rear Deck looks when it is mounted.
For the Mini Rear Deck, 6mm fasteners are used to attach the deck to the four bosses that supported the Tool Bag. The shorter 30mm long bolts go closest to the seat. The longer 40 mm bolts go into the holes farther from the seat. These bolts thread into the wiring cover under the rear fender. |
Each bolt has a lock washer and flat washer installed before installing the Mini Rear Deck on the rear fender. Be careful not to cross thread the bolts going into the wiring cover. If the welded on bolt nuts are even slightly bent it is difficult to thread into the nuts. Check the wiring cover before installing it and correct any bends in the tabs that hold the nuts. They should both be flush to the surface when the cover is face down on a table. |
Once all the bolts are threaded into their respective location tighten them down until the split lock washers are compressed and significant resistance is felt. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN as you could deform the rear fender bosses. |
Maintenance: The only maintenance activity required is to occasionally check the tightness of the fasteners. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. Snug with no loose motion is all that is required. |
